Creative Writing
Once again, students from all across the region sent in beautiful stories, poems and essays. Here are this year's results: creative writing.
English on Stage
"English on Stage", our drama contest, will be held on March 27th this year and the deadline for registrations is March 19th. Please register at aplacinschi@yahoo.com for plays, recitations and monologues and at danaaftene@yahoo.com for sketches. For plays, the registration fee is 20 RON per group, for sketches it is 15 RON per group, while for monologues and recitations it is 10 RON per participant (20 RON for those whose teacher is not a MATE member).
1. Students deliver their presentations without being interrupted by the jury. (They are not allowed to read although they may have some material in front of them) 2. The presentations should not be shorter than 3 minutes but should not exceed 5 minutes. 3. At the end the jury may ask one or two questions (no more). 4. Other students in the audience are not allowed to ask questions.
Impromptu speech
1. Students choose a topic and have 5-10 minutes to think about it. 2. They are allowed to make notes while preparing their speech. 3. They deliver the speech in 2-3 minutes (grades 7 and 8), 3-4 minutes ( grades 9 and 10) and 4-5 minutes (grades 11 and 12), but are not allowed to read the notes they made, although they may peek at them from time to time. 4. The jury may ask one question if they feel it is necessary. 5. Other students in the audience are not allowed to ask questions.
